BEMC is affiliated with several statewide, regional and national organizations including: 

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

An organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. Represents more than 900 electric cooperatives, serving around 42 million consumers in 47 states.

Touchstone Energy  

BEMC is a member of Touchstone Energy®, a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives providing high standards of service to customers large and small. More than 700 Touchstone Energy cooperatives in 45 states deliver energy and energy solutions to more than 22 million customers every day.

North Carolina Electric Membership Cooperatives (NCEMC)

NCEMC consists of a family of corporations formed to support the state’s 26 electric cooperatives. Those organizations include:

  • NCEMC is one of the largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the nation and is responsible for electricity purchase contracts and transmission.
  • North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives (NCAEC) is a trade association owned by all 26 of NC's electric cooperatives. It provides association services to the state’s electric cooperatives, including legislative support, public relations, safety training and more. NCAEC publishes the award-winning Carolina Country magazine which goes out to more than 600,000 families, farms and businesses in North Carolina. Published continuously since 1946, Carolina Country is distributed by subscription to members of North Carolina’s electric cooperatives.
  • Tarheel Electric Membership Association (TEMA) is a cooperative that offers central purchasing and materials supply services to the cooperatives.
     
  • TSE Services provides market research to electric cooperatives throughout the U.S.

National Rural Utility Cooperative Finance Corporation (NRUFC)    

NRUFC (CFC) is the premier private-market lender for the nation's electric cooperatives-an independent source of financing that supplements the credit programs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS).

Rural Consumer Services Corporation (RCSC)    

The Rural Consumer Services Corporation is a separate entity from the co-op that promotes new business development, business expansion and business retention in Brunswick and Columbus Counties.
